Finding one amazing wine at an affordable price is hard enough, but to find one that pairs with an umpteenth number of Thanksgiving side dishes, well, that’s daunting by even expert standards!  The important thing to remember is that even the best sommelier in the world can not find a wine that pairs with yams, turkey, and cranberry sauce—and that the Thanksgiving feast calls for a low alcohol, fruit-filled, light to medium bodied wines. Usually lighter-bodied and showing less tannins than its relative Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc is a good red-wine option for turkey or other game birds. This brand showcases gentle tannins punctuated by lively acid, tarragon and cherry notes, and wonderful balance and drinkability.

The red fruit on the nose, earthy undertones, and subtle tannic structure of Pinot lends well to your green bean casserole or creamed spinach dishes. No other wine has the patience to pair with these creamy veggie dishes quite like Pinot does. We love this one for its beautiful blend of Old and New world styles—and its amazingly reasonable price.

Côtes du Rhône is generally versatile enough for the array Thanksgiving dishes. Typically a blend of predominately Syrah and Grenache, with a few other varietals added for balance, these wines are full yet supple in their finish. This meaty, medium-bodied selection seduces with cherry and pepper qualities, bright red fruit, and with hints of dark cassis and smoke.  A solid pairing for delicate turkey or heavy gravy, it’s also an outstanding partner for wild rice, sautéed mushrooms, or anything with savory herbs like rosemary or sage.

Young rosés such as this one are Thanksgiving crowd-pleasers. Lively, playful, full of fruit, and priced beautifully, they bring balance and color to the table, have enough acidity to pair with even your heartiest oyster stuffing, yet still retain juicy red fruit characteristics to highlight stuffing with dried fruits.

A fuller bodied wine that delivers tones of ginger and allspice, this opulent wine will please the Chardonnay lover while the acidity will appease the Sauvignon Blanc drinker.

While Riesling fails to elevate your cranberry accoutrements, Gewurztraminer, including this stelar selection, has a spicy character that works magnificently with the bitter berry. Cranberry or fall fruit chutney, pumpkin, and butternut-squash soup seasoned with baking spices are perfect pairs for Gewurtz!

Riesling provides a sweet flavor that beautifully compliments and balances candied yams. German Kabinetts and off-dry Spatleses, with their tropical fruit, citrus, green-apple, pear and mineral notes, work with almost any Thanksgiving dish—except cranberry sauce and desserts. We still can’t believe the sumptuousness of this affordable bottle.

What feast is complete without a little bubbly? This sparkling treat has the acidity to cut through heavy gravy, enough fruit to compliment the sweet potatoes, and effervescence to act as a palate cleanser. Truth is, any sparkling wine, champagne (bubbly from France), prosecco (Italian sparking wine) or cava (Spain's sparkling contribution) will work marvelously.
